Thank You very much for the tribute. So much to listen/re-listen.

I was expecting Tony somewhere, he is in his usual top form on 1977 Movies.

Hi Stefan, I'm a huge fan of Movies and was plugging it earlier this summer, so avoided doing so again. Also, was mindful that although Movies is certainly part of the larger Carla Bley universe, all the music was written by Michael Mantler, and I wanted to focus not just on Carla's world, but on her compositions (or, in the case of Liberation Music Orchestra, her arrangements).

Here's the article with the Movies mention:

I believe D. Sharpe played with Jonathan Richman before he was playing with Carla. Not 100% but that’s what I remember

Hi Rob-- If that's what you remember, then it's probably true. Just glad that I was talking about the correct drummer!

Thanks for reading Mr. Schwimmer!

i never got to see her or steve swallow play live and i can't say i know her music super well, but i enjoyed the book on her that was put out a number of years ago by amy beal... i guess that is part of the problem living on vancouver island.. i don't know if she even made it to vancouver.. if she did, i missed it.. me and my friend tried contacting her about 5 years ago but never heard back.. anyway - if you folks don't know this, here is a very valuable resource...her website.. http://www.wattxtrawatt.com/ check out the library! - http://www.wattxtrawatt.com/library.html

there are a ton of her and steves charts you can access to put to good use!
