Hi vinnie, i commented about this on another post but i would really love to hear more drumming "firsts" (or at least first as far as we can tell). Some that i've wondered about are the first drummer to do the elbow-in-the-snare talking drum effect that's pretty common now, first drummer to trade with a non-drum instrument, the actual first person to put a rimshot on 4, but id be curious to hear of any "firsts" you're aware of!
Vinnie, I love what you're doing, particularly your attentiveness to the evolution of the language of drumming. One fascination of mine I'd love to hear your thoughts on is drummers who may not have had a restructuring influence on the lineage, but are sort of singular outliers. For example, Dave Tough or Billy Mintz. Related to the request I see here about your takes on bassists, I'd be interested in your takes on specific bass/drums partnerships that had deep and distinctive relationships, e.g. Mingus/Richmond, Tony/Ron...? Thanks.
Oh wow, I'm super excited for the Jim Black thing! AlasNoAxis is one of my favourite bands ever!

Not sure if you have already done this, but I'd love to read about your interactions and adventures with bassists...You know, riddim section antics...
Yes, Ted’s great…love his duo record with Andrew D’Angelo..thanks poor reading Peter!
Great idea…particularly Ted’s last record with Andrew D’Angelo…definitely something to explore…
I’m really enjoying all of your writing. I would be interested in a post about Ted Poor.
